PrJSC "Metrobud" has the means and equipment that allows the construction of dual-purpose underground structures, including performing such work in dense urban areas. A dual-purpose structure (ground or underground structure / its separate part) can be used for its main functional purpose and for sheltering the population.
Work performance methods
Modern methods of performance of works for dual-purpose structures used by Metrobud:
Open method;
Mechanized penetration;
Blasting method;
Installation of retaining walls to maintain slopes;
Anchoring and tamponage of weak soils;
“Wall in the soil” (Diaphragm Walls);
Arrangement of bored and injection piles;
Jet grouting.
Dual purpose buildings as shelters
In accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 10, 2017 No. 138 “Some issues of the use of protective structures of civil defense” to establish the possibility of using them for sheltering the population as dual-purpose structures and the simplest shelters belong to:
Underground passages between stations (transport, subway stations);
Tunnels (metro stations, road, highway, pedestrian);
Underground warehouses;
Pit-type buildings (car parks, parking lots, garages, underground shopping centres, catering establishments, shops);
Former defence facilities and bases;
Underground mine workings, caves and other underground cavities for various purposes;
Basement, ground and first floors of civil and industrial facilities;
Private shelters and bunkers;
Other objects, which according to their technical characteristics and protective properties can be used to shelter the population.
